Holy Orders is a sacrament of service because the men who become deacons, priests and bishops live a life of service to the Church and to their brothers and sisters. As Jesus came to serve others so deacons, priests and bishops also dedicate their lives to service of others. They are servants of God and care for the people of the Church.
They administer the sacraments. Out of love they dedicate their lives for the good of others.

HIERARCHY OF ORDERS
http://holycross-hermitage.com/pages/Orthodox_Life/bishop_jonah.htm
There are three types of Holy Orders:
- Bishop: The bishop is the highest level of Holy Orders. A bishop maintains the full level of priesthood and ordains the successors of the apostles (deacons, priests, and other bishops.) Their normal job is to head a local church (diocese.)
- Priest: Priests assist and obey their bishop and they care for the people. They administer Reconciliation, Baptism, Eucharist, Confirmation and Anointing of the Sick.
- Deacon: Deacons are ministers but they cannot consecrate the Eucharist or administer Reconciliation.
RITE OF ORDINATION

The rite of Holy Orders usually takes place at a Sunday mass with as many lay people present as possible. Also it should take place in a cathedral or other solemn venue.
The rite begins with the bishop laying hands on the head of the man to be ordained. Then the bishop says a special prayer.
This is followed by instruction by the bishop, examination of the candidate, and anointing of the candidate with chrism. Finally the book of the Gospels along with the chalice and paten are bestowed.

CONNECTION TO THE APOSTLES

Through Hold Orders Jesus' mission is passed down even to now days.
At the last supper, Jesus commanded the apostles to "do this in remembrance of me." What he meant was that the apostles should carry on the Eucharist through the ages. Holy Orders was established by Jesus command to celebrate the Eucharist.
The highest calling of the priest is to say Mass. By consecration of the Eucharist the priest acts in the place of Jesus, just as the apostles did after Jesus ascended into Heaven.
